Remember, one-year-old Harry was there the night Voldemort killed his
parents and attempted to kill him. Just because he cannot volitionally
recall the events does not mean that they are not embedded in his
memory. The dementors bring these memories forth because the event is the
most traumatic thing that has ever happened to Harry. I do not believe
that James & Lily are trapped anywhere. Why would Voldemort try to trap
his enemies when killing rids him of them permenently?
