"Does anyone know how many First Editions were printed by Bloomsbury
(UK) and the other publishers around the world?"

Erk, Nick - how many copies of the book do you plan on buying?!

Bloomsbury printed 1 million first editions, which is a HUGE
number. Apparently they had complaints from book collectors/dealers that
the bulk of first editions of the earlier books had been sent overseas,
leaving fewer more 'valuable' versions in the UK, so they decided to do a
huge run just to keep everyone happy (also devaluing the first editions,
of course).

My copy of GoF says "First Edition", but I ain't gettin' excited about it.

I have the paperback versions of the other three books: 44th printing of
PS, 20th printing of CoS, and first printing (first reprinting, I think,
rather than first edition) of PoA. All priceless, naturally.

Nick - it was nice to see you at King's Cross, albeit briefly! Your
pictures of the event are great. I expect mine, in contrast, to be
awful... just about to go and collect them now.
