The only movies I have seen that ever do their books justice are
the ones in which the authors are directly involved with the adaptive
screenplay and (sometimes) the direction. Ex: TV movie of Stephen King's
"The Stand". Not only did he adapt the novel into a screenplay form,
he also sat with the director and watched the making of the actual
movie, and was available to the actors when they needed "tips" on their
characters. Maybe Columbus will take this tactic to heart and ask Rowling
to help? I hope so...
