>>>So there were attacks on the Oz books, huh?
one of the zillion articles I have read recently about HP says that
some fundamentalist groups attempted to get the Oz books banned from
libraries in the 1980s. I once saw a poster called Banned Books --
it showed the front covers of dozens of books that had been banned in
various parts of the U.S., including Catcher in the Rye, Huckleberry
Finn, Lolita, etc. It was truly frightening to me that there had been
so many successful attempts to prevent people from reading all those
books. There are probably websites out there on censorship that provide
a lot more detail. Also, there is an organization called Muggles for
Harry Potter which fights the many attempts to ban the HP books. They
are at www.mugglesforharrypotter.org
