I've gone through and read all of the posts since yesterday, so I have
a lot to comment on, considering everything which has been brought up. I
also have some questions of my own.
So, i'll just comment on things in the order in which I wrote them down,
considering I'd lose track of my thoughts any other way.
1) Hermione is a great female role-model: she works hard, she's
intelligent, she doesn't try to fit in with others in order to be
popular. She doesn't let the teasing of others drag her down. I wish
we could learn about McGongall, but hopefully more about her will be
revealed later.
2) Narcissa very well might have been in Voldemorts circle. There were
many there whom we know nothing about - all of those whom he swept past
without speaking to. We don't know if Narcissa was there or not, and I
have a feeling it might not be important to the plot of the book in the
long run.
3) I read an interesting review on the Harry Potter books were a person
was very upset with the way that Rowlings poked fun at and associated
bad qualities with fat people. Do other people think that Rowlings has a
predujice against fat people? For example, with her treatment of Dudley,
or Bagman? Or any of the girls Ron or Harry wouldn't have wanted to take
to the Ball?
4) Snape & Lily: This is a fun rumor to think about. Perhaps Voldemort
promised Snape that he would have Lily for himself after he killed
Harry and James. I'm not sure if that makes sense though, as Snape
apparently left before Lily was killed. I think that there is something
in WHY Voldemort keeps going after Harry - doesn't it seem as if even in
tracking down the Potters Voldemort's primary target was always Harry? I
wonder if prophecy or some other plot comes into play here we don't know
about yet, but that Voldemort, Dumbledore, and Snape all do.
