Hi:
<<<I think the familial relations between Harry & his favorite family
are *extremely* distant, a common ancestor somewhere in ancient history,
but the family split into 2 factions>>>
My comment about a familial relationship dashing young Ginny's hopes
wasn't based so much on the thought that they are 1st cousins or
anything. If they are related, I'm sure it's sufficiently far back that
it wouldn't be a problem in that regard. It was just my way of emphasizing
my opinion that Ginny has zero hopes at this point. <g>
I think the fact that JKR has done nothing to develop her as a character
in the last 2 books can be interpreted to mean that she's never going
to be a strong enough character to be the hero's love interest. In other
words, I believe if JKR hasn't done something with the character by now,
I think it's safe to assume she isn't going to (and that Ginny will
just remain a background figure who will hopefully get over her crush on
her brother's best friend). I could be wrong, of course -- but I think
we would have seen Ginny joining in more with the trio as an equal &
we would have seen more of her character in general.
My $.02 --
Penny
