In Louisa May Alcott's _Rose In Bloom_, the title character marries her
first cousin, and there's even an implication that her ancestors have been
likewise marrying near relatives "to keep the property in the family"
for centuries. And when one of Rose's other cousins breaks with this
tradition and falls deeply in love with "a nobody from the poorhouse",
the family's matriarchs go Malfoy-ballistic.
