No flames, but two points I'd like to make:

1. Why did the Ministry send a letter to Harry when it was Dobby that
levitated the pudding? Harry wasn't doing the magic.

2. The whole thing sounds too creepy "Big Brother-y" to me. Imagine having
your every move monitored and recorded. UGH! Of course, it could very
well be true, because Fudge was waiting for Harry at the Leaky Cauldron
in Book 3. Was that just a lucky guess?

If they were able to keep such accurate track of mischief, why couldn't
they see Peter Pettigrew & Sirius Black in the Shrieking Shack (provided
they have a Marauder's Map of Great Britain). If the original Hogwarts
3 Musketeers (James, Sirius, and Remus) were capable of creating the
map when they were teenagers, surely someone else would think of the
same thing.

Too many questions unanswered!
