Um... wait just a minute...

I'm American as apple pie. I am both a teacher and a graduate student
in English. The British canon TOWERS over the American canon. We are the
new kids on the block, remember... our literature anthologies begin with
Pilgrim journals, sermons, and letters circa 1650. The British canon
opens with Beowulf, which is more than 1000 years older.

And no one, but no one writes fantasy like British authors. From Lewis
Carroll to JKR, the tradition of myth and folklore in Brit lit is simply
outstanding. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis were both British.

Long live Harry Potter--the Boy Who Lived!
