I always thought West Country - i.e. Cornish or from somewhere in
Devon. Maybe thats just me as my dear old (she'd kill me for saying that
if she read it) mum is from the West Country, and things like Treacle
Fudge and rock cakes seem v. Cornish to me - could as easlily be anywhere
else though!

And if it is Cornish, no wonder the kids are having difficulty reading
it - you should try listening to it. I have no trouble but my "yankee"
(he would also kill me if he caught me calling him that) hubby has a
terrible time...
