There are hundreds, according to the books (during his sorting, Harry
sees "hundreds of faces" looking at him). Each year in each house seems
to have ten, five boys and five girls. I doubt that it always works out
that way exactly, depending on the sorting, but that's a pretty good
approximation. When Harry and his fellow first years had their first
flying lesson with the Slytherin first years, there were twenty brooms
lying on the grass ready for them. So that makes seventy students per
house for a total of 280 students, give or take a few.
