<<I'm *really* confused about Neil saying that they are on British Summer
Time now -- I thought I had heard recently that Britain gave up GMT and
BST in order to shift over one hour in order to be on EU time?>>
I gather there has been discussion about aligning the UK with the rest
of the EU, but that hasn't happened yet. The UK is part of the European
Union of course, but the European Parliament doesn't set all the laws;
some things are left to subsidiarity (i.e. the individual countries say
'we don't want the EU involved there, so we'll carry on as we are').
In WWII, I believe they had something called Double Summer Time - great
for getting a tan!
Okay, so BST and DST end on the same day - RESULT!
