I posted the following in alt.fan.harry-potter, hoping I would get a
reply there, but they seemed less than enthusiastic aboot replying.

And I thought I could get away from you lot, and use some decent software
ro talk to other Harry Potter fans. Looks like I'm stuck with you,
and Yahoo! (/JOKE)

Here's what I typed:

Hi all

This has always been something that has bothered me;

The Wizarding world has a hundreds of cures for almost everything. We
see even a school nurse sort out someone's teeth, cure skin disorders
(boils), and various other things. The only thing JKR has ruled out is
resurrection.

I have really poor eyesight, and actually got the books on tape after
major eye surgery, when I had to lie on my back 50 minutes out of every
hour. I also have to go back to the dental hospital next moth for some
operation... ~Anyway - I'm sure all of us have some weird thing we would
like cured. And then ther's everything else. We've seen what house
elve can
do, and then we see world famine in the Muggle world, and I just wish JKR
would have given a better explanation for non-muggle interference (sort of
like a Star Trek Prime directive).

You don't need to tell me there is no such thing as wizards and witches,
and that it is only a book - but I'd like to know what their excuse
is when
I am deep into it, - and my mind starts formulating these thiings...

Nicholas
