Interesting theory.
It adds more humor to "you have your mother's eyes". It is reminicent
of the Addam's Family Values. "He has grandfather's eyes." "Gomez! Take
those out of his mouth!"
In any event, I think that it was more evident that Harry was saved by
the power of his mother's love. At least that is what Dumbledore told
him. I think it was stated in "Prisoner". And I think that it would make
more sense that something like that which was so good and pure would be
able to defeat something so evil.
And let's face it heredity must have given Harry something of his mother's
because Harry is in all other respects the spitting image of his father.
