re: snape favoring Malfoy and Slytherin... I always thought that
Snape sort of wanted to give Slytherin a "fair chance" - sort of a
"everybody thinks Slytherin's evil, so I'm going to give them a break"
attitude. But then, in book 1, they've won the house championship for
6 years running, so it's not like they're being picked on by the other
teachers or anything. Hmmm.... not sure about this one.
re: DADA position... You know, the books never really say if Snape
actually wants the position. Everyone's *heard* that he wants it, but I
figure that if he really did, he would have had a chance to fill it by
now (with all the vacancies and all). I'm thinking that he'd rather be
potions master and out of the "limelight", so to speak.
I do think Snape is a fascinating character - and I would probably like
him a lot more if he didn't go off the deep end at the end of book 3. I
mean, sure, he's angry and resentful that the guy who tried to kill him
so many years ago is free AGAIN - but get a grip! ;)
