Hi:
<Ok... to anyone anywhere... if you are planning on getting the audio
version... get the Learning Library ones (that is the US edition, read
by Jim Dale).
I have the UK version of Philosopher's Stone, and the US version of
Chamber of Secrets - and COS is far the better version - Jim puts more
life in it than Stephen does, though I did think Stephen was good,
until I heard Dale.>
Oh good -- I'm glad someone (especially someone from Britain) has done
a comparison. I own the Jim Dale versions and had been contemplating
whether it was worthwhile to own the UK audio versions. Glad to know I
can cross that off my list of "must haves."
<I also prefer the CD versions. My tape version is not lasting well -
my car tape player almost mangled one of the tapes yesterday.>
I have the tape versions as I don't have a CD player in my car, but I
don't think the tapes are holding up all that well. Gosh, wonder if that
has *anything* to do with the fact that I've listened to them a bazillion
times *and* have loaned them to several people (hi Skimmel & Amy!).
I'm slowing acquiring the CD versions for *when* I have a car CD player.
I love the audio versions -- you pick up on so many things you missed
before (or I do).
Penny
