Dear Neil-Neil
Woman - yes
Parent - no
Teacher - no
Writer - no
Witch - no (alas!)
I read about the Harry Potter phenomenon in an article in the book section
of the Sunday paper last fall. I seem to have missed out reading a lot of
the children's classics when I was a child, being more absorbed in Hardy
Boys, Nancy Drew, and horse stories, so I had been reading - for the
first time at age 47 - things like Chronicles of Narnia and the Wrinkle
in Time quartet. I sent for a copy of HP/SS and LOVED it -- immediately
ordered the other two. In preparation for #4, I pulled the other 3 off
the shelf to re-read them. Now I have begun to think I will have them
memorized soon. Thank heaven next month I will have a new loooooong book
to devour. I tend to enjoy the beginning chapters of the books the most
(Harry's background and the events leading up to the arrival at Hogwarts).
