Hi! My turn to answer!
I hadn't really heard anything about HP at first. Then this girl I know,
who is definitely a sillybutt but who has good taste in books, recommended
them to me. (She also hears 2000 voices in her head, but that's a topic
for another post.) I bopped into Barnes and Noble on my lunch hour and
wound up flipping through one of the books - I honestly don't remember
which one it was, I just know that it wasn't the first. Of course, it
made no sense to me. But I'd mentioned to my family that I was curious
about them, and my twin brother wound up getting me all three books for
Christmas. I became hooked right away - I love beginnings and origin
stories and stuff, so Sorcerer's Stone sucked me in immediately.

Oh, by the way - I just started reading that Paradigm of Uncertainty
fan fiction stuff, and it's spectacular. I highly recommend it.

Smoooches,
Darwin (male, not a parent, not a teacher but my twin brother is, giggles
at the idea of witchcraft in real life but DOES like a good magic trick,
referred to HP by a sillybutt.)
