You know what? I thought I was the only one! My sister has all three
books in hardcover, but hers all have the years on the spine. I got mine
differently, though - I bought number 2 first at Target off the shelf,
then bought 1 and 3 from Amazon.com, so they came at the same time. I
wonder if I happened to get an earlier printing of #2 - hence the jacket
being designed prior to some bigwig at Scholastic saying "hey! We should
put the year numbers on the spine!"
