Hi:

<<<<<"The two of them start out by irritating each other to the point of
exasperation. They get on each other's nerves. They may even hate each
other at times. Which means that they are Doomed, according to Hollywood
and classic romantic tradition, to Fall In Love.">>>

<<<<<This has always been my impression of Hermione and Ron. They are
there to support Harry and as such I could not see it working if Hermione
was Harry's girlfriend.>>>>

I agree that JKR has put in place the classic set up for Ron & Hermione
to date. I think they will date. I *don't*, however, think that they
will be each other's Mr. or Ms. Right.

And I stand by my position that the jury is still out on what *her*
feelings are anyway. Pretty clear from PoA that Ron will eventually fall
for her. And, they bicker back & forth alot so they could eventually be
destined to date each other. That certainly does happen alot in books &
movies. But, teenage girls who bicker and argue with a young boy are
not *always* in love with him. <g> Sometimes, they have their eye on
someone else entirely.

And, a Ron & Hermione dating relationship at some point stil doesn't
rule out the possibilities for her true feelings to still be for Harry,
betrayal, etc.

And, as for Ron being the sidekick who gets overshadowed alot by his
brothers and then by Harry and maybe getting Hermione evens things out
a bit for Ron -- well, maybe. But, maybe, the trend of Harry getting
it all continues. JKR has said someone will betray Harry at some point,
and despite the good Neville theories, I think there are some interesting
possibilities with Ron, the most obvious being with regard to Hermione.

I promise I'm going to try & quit posting on this topic -- really. I
swear. At least until Book 4 comes out -- maybe it will answer *some*
of our questions.

Penny
