I had begun to think that James died protecting Harry. But there is no
real evidence for that. So maybe you are right and the prediction was
that a male Potter would destroy Voldemort and not specific to Harry.
However I don't agree that if the prediction was only about Harry,
that the Potters would have sent him away. If your child was in danger,
wouldn't you want to protect him yourself? Who else would you trust to
put their lives on the line for your child? Obviously Sirius would and
Lupin too I think. Still I think James and Lily would have kept Harry
with them no matter what.
By the way, is anyone else absolutely in love with Lupin? Dumbledore used
to be my favorite character after Harry. But he does have to be a bit
subtle in his support since he has all those other responsibilities. Book
3 is my favorite, I think because Harry finally has people who sort
of belong to him: Sirius and Lupin. Even though Sirius is closer (his
guardian and all), I am just crazy about Lupin and am looking forward
to him coming back into the story.
