Okay, I'll bite.

The only objection I have to that theory is that, as a witch, she could've
save herself (and at least some other passengers) with an anti-cold,
anti-drowning charm.

Or maybe her name was down because her body was never found, when she
really appartated out of there and went on to become her own great
grandmother. <g>
