<No they are NOT a model Christian family they are terrible, the book
makes Christians out to be bad, that is the POINT!!!!!>
Don't know *why* you think the Dursleys are representative of
Christianity. I personally believe it's exactly the opposite.
So far, the books can be interpreted as a Christian allegory. Of course,
we're only working with 3/7 of the series, so it's hard to say for
sure. But, here's what I see so far: You have an infant who has such
incredible powers that he can repel an attack of pure evil and effectively
destroy that evil force. By vastly curtailing the strength and power
of the evil force, he was effectively the "savior" of his people. His
people -- witches & wizards -- celebrated his great victory and view
him as their savior.
At Hogwarts, the symbol of Harry's house is the lion. The symbol of
Slytherin house is the serpent. Harry is constantly at odds with Slytherin
as a whole. Harry continues to triumph over evil in each book. He could
very well turn out to be a Christ figure in these books.
But the Dursleys representative of Christianity? I don't buy it!
