Mr. Beckhorn,
There are good people in this world and there are also bad people. I
tend to think the good outnumber the bad, but there are both kinds in
ALL religions, races, and nationalities. Nowhere in the book is it either
written or implied that the Dursleys are Christian or otherwise.
You metioned earlier that you read "some" of the first book. I think
you'll find that the rest of us will discredit your opinion on these
books, because you have failed to read them all the way through. The
"witchcraft" in the book is fictitious, and is secondary to the morals
these books teach. Yes, Mr. Beckhorn, morals. The witchcraft angle does
excite the kids because it is DIFFERENT and not real. It draws the kids
into this fictional story and in doing so, they learn about honesty,
courtesy, caring and friendship and how good, in any form, will always
vanquish evil. It also teaches kids that it is okay to feel different,
because all kids feel different in one way or another. It teaches
acceptance and tolerance. In my humble opinion, that is probably the
best lesson any child will ever learn. And hmmm, I'm sure I read that
somewhere else, too. Oh yes, I read it in the Bible.
Like I mentioned once before, it's great that you feel so strongly
in something, and we respect your right to feel and say whatever you
do. However, we all like the book and you're not going to change our
minds. Please respect our rights in the same way without judging us.
