Greetings, Penny--
I looked at the cover on my giant screen at work and could clearly see a
labrador or mastiff-type dog head - you know - black and sort of square
with "down" ears. I checked the picture on my piddly computer at home
and that area of the cover was barely visible! It's amazing what a couple
of thousand bucks will do.
The guy on the left does have a malevolent expression - but I just can't
see Snape with a unibrow and an unintelligent look.
I, too, was taken with the change in Harry's appearance from the covers
of the 1st 3 books to this one - he looks much younger and "cuter"
in a Disney sort of way (not more handsome, but more appealing and
cuddly). Also, I think it's interesting that the Brit cover has the scar
in a different location that the Yank version.
