I am posting some pieces of the puzzle that JKR is
building because I have just reread Book One and
noticed a few things.
1. Hermione says: "I needn't have learned about the
1637 Werewolf Code of Conduct or the uprising of
Elfric the Eager." --
Very important, I think. Based on Book 4, elves are
important and an uprising is brewing because of Dobby.
Dumbledore likes socks (see reference to mirror of
Erised) and I think he will try to use the elf
uprising to destroy the Voldemort and Death Eater rise
to power. Werewolves are mentioned so many times in
Book One it makes your head spin. They will be
important again.
2. Neville the Toadless Boy. -- not only will
Neville become more important, I think the toad is
sometihing important too. She keeps bringing it up
like she did with Scabbers. Perhaps Dumbledore
transforms into a toad to keep an eye on our heroes
and then escapes back to his office when needed.
3. Mrs. Figg has obviously been outed as a Wizard
guardian for Harry in Muggle world. Note that she has
lots of cats! Note that Crookshanks is always around
the Griffindors house. Perhaps he is a protective
force for our heroes ( a secret guardian planted by
Dumbledore) After all, Crookshanks spotted Scabbers
as a Baddie.
4. The plethora of Snake and Dragon references in the
books implies that they will continue to play
important roles. Hogwarts motto "Never tickle a
Sleeping Dragon" is ,I believe, a symbol of
Dumbledore. The friendly (sleeping dragon) will be
awakened by the evil bad guys!
