They had already memorized all the secret passages with their
passwords, and the Map didn't tell passwords unknown to its makers
such as the constantly changing passwords for Gryffindor tower
(h'mmm. Could it have told Harry the constantly changing password to
Dumbledore's apartment, based on Lupin knowing it as a faculty
member?), and they were generously willing to forego the "where
everyone is right now" feature for Harry's sake, or because they
weren't interested in it except for checking that their path is
clear, which they could do with Muggle spy techniques or their own
Detection spells.
