Thanks Carole - always willing to share *g* So with apologies to any PoUers
who have already heard this, here it is...

OK, well I met her at the launch of GoF at King's Cross in July. Me and my
mate somehow wandered into the Press Enclosure - we worked it out by the
large 'PRESS' stickers that everyone but us seemed to be wearing, but since
nobody challenged us, we decided to stay. When she came out, it was just
mad - the press were yelling at her (some of them couldn't even be bothered
to get her name right - 'Go on Joanna, give us a smile'). She really
obviously doesn't like the press and frankly I don't blame her - they kept
on trying to get her to smile, and told her to think of the money - she was
so resolutely grim faced with the press. Anyway, then she came down to the
barriers to answer questions from the press and sign a few books - she
signed my cover, and then as she was signing my mate's book, I thought it
was now or never and just said 'Sirius Black is meant to be dead sexy, isn't
he?'. It was so funny - she looked at me as if she was pleasantly surprised
to see friendly faces in amongst all the press hounds - she obviously was
expecting questions about the money, the next books, yadda yadda yadda, not
a fan question - then she smiled and said 'Yes.' RESULT!!!!

She was moving down the train, and me and my friend, having had our five
seconds, decided to just wander down the platform and soak up the
atmosphere. Now my friend is very tall, and when JKR leaned out of the
carriage a bit further on to speak to the fans, she saw my friend first and
then saw me, and waved at us. We mouthed 'Thank you' and she mouthed back
'you're welcome'. When the train left the station, the powers that be tried
to herd us behind the barriers, which we did for all of about five seconds
before sneaking back out round the back. We went and stood further down the
platform away from everyone else, and as JKR's carriage went past us we
waved like mad things and yelled 'Thanks! Bye!' and JKR gave us the million
watt smile that she wouldn't give the press!

And as if that wasn't enough, I got a couple of text messages the next day
telling me to go get the Observer, as me, my friend and JKR were all on page
three - you can see the top of my friend's head, and my face, but it's us
sure enough. And if anyone's interested after my wittering, I took a few
photos that I could scan in and send privately to people, so as not to clog
up the list - the quality is not all that hot, as it was just one of those
disposable cameras with a dodgy flash, but I like them!
