Hello:
> Alicia/Sue -- we all decided in the chat room today that you should
> enter that contest about how HP has changed your life (Scholastic
>is the sponsor I believe), and then when you win & get to go meet
>JKR in person in NY, we'll arm you with all the group's questions
(how many students at Hogwarts, etc.). Okay?
Penny, if there is some way that I can enter that contest and win
without my parents, friends, teachers, teammates, bandmates,
archenemies, former babysitters, coaches, co-workers, and fellow
residents of Suburban Hell, MA discovering my closet love of HP and
my fanfic, I'll do it.
Otherwise, I'm shuddering at the thought of my parents finding out
that I know precisely how to properly use every cuss word in the
English language and do so frequently.
With my luck, I'd send in a nice, long essay on HP, not expecting to
win-- and do so, an event that would subsequently be discovered by
the dinky local media. "TEEN WINS ESSAY CONTEST"... in case it's not
obvious by my contempt for my town or the sheer amount of time I
spend posting, nothing exciting really happens here.
I'm thinking about it... after all, it would be nice to know all
these little intricities about the series. I'd add on a question of
my own: "Who exactly was the inspiration for Draco Malfoy, and can I
have his telephone number?"
But then, there's that little matter of fanfic rearing its ugly head
again. As the major defining element in my HP-obsessiveness, it
would have to figure prominiently into such an essay. And we all
know how much J.K. *loves* fanfic, don't we?
"What the bloody hell did you do to my characters?"
Oy...
But, I'm still thinking.
Scott: If we both win, let's try not to touch the same saltshaker at
dinner, okay? I don't really think I'm up to battling some evil,
dark sorcerer these days. ^_^
