"I Capture the Castle" and other things to read...(despairingly Off Topic)

I was finished with GoF and dejectedly perusing the shelves of Barnes 
& Noble for something else to read a few weeks ago.  There are so 
many books if only I would see one that looked interesting....WAIT!  
I galnced down on the shelf.  I was positive I had seen J.K. Rowling 
on one of the books.  Could Jo have written an unknown book that I 
alone would discover.  Not in the Slightest.  

The book was "I Capture the Castle" by Dodie Smith (Yes she wrote 101 
Dalmations!!!), and no I'm not going crazy emblazoned across the 
cover is this quote-

"This book has one of the most charismatic narrators I've evner 
met."  -J.K. Rowling author of hte Harry Potter series.

So, needless to reiterate, I purhased the book.  I found it 
interesting, a lovely story that, while not at all fantasy (not in 
the least)- I would wholly recommend.  Apparently the book has been 
out of print.

So that's nice but what else is there to read (well besides the HP 
series AGAIN!!!)  I'm looking for books to tie me over... 

And not strictly fantasy, any novels you would recommend!
