I agree, she is naturally brilliant but she's not in Ravenclaw
because intelligence is not the quality she personally values the
most. In the first book when Harry is about to risk his life Hermione
hugs him and says "Harry you're a great wizard, you know." Harry
says "I'm not as good as you" and then Hermione responds with
incredulity "Me! Books! And cleverness! There are more important
things- friendship and bravery and- oh Harry- be careful!"
