They were an offshoot of SDS (Students for a Democratic Society) who
organized campuses throughout the country against the war. They
embraced the idea of violent revolution and blew up many buildings.
Many of the Weathermen were on the FBI's most wanted list for years.
Three of them died in a townhouse in Manhattan when the bombs they
were making malfunctioned. The song by Bob Dylan is Subterranean
Homesick Blues and it says "You don't need a weatherman to know which
way the wind blows."
