And considering that the first time Snape encounters the map he was 
prodding at it with his wand, that might be why it insulted him. And 
didn't he say his name at it too? Whereas when he passes by Lupin's 
desk and finds the map there, he sees whats going on around the 
whomping willow and he only give a glance at the map. He does not try 
and stick his extremely large nose into other peoples business--the 
slimeball!-- (gosh i love that map!) and therefore maybe the map 
didn't produce any insults a second time...
