Agreed.  Besides, I don't think there is any tangible evidence that 
Lily and Petunia were related directly to the Riddles.  Plus there is 
a strong piece of evidence against it.

Tom Riddle Sr. strongly disliked and was afraid of witches/wizards.  
I mean, he _married_ this woman, got her pregnant and then left her 
because she was witch.  He didn't just knock her up without marriage 
and then leave on general principles.  

Petunia specifically states that her parents were proud of Lily, 
thought she was great, and that only _Petunia_ saw her as a freak.

Even without the strong temporal conflicts, the evidence in the book 
doesn't indicate it could be the same person.

There simply isn't any evidence to tie Tom Riddle and Lily and 
Petunia together.  Now JKR may put something in the future books, but 
right now there is no evidence.
