On the other hand, I keep thinking of Shasta and the Calormen girl in 
_The Horse and His Boy_, who 'continued to argue as they grew up and 
eventually got married so as to be able do so more conveniently'.  I 
even know a real-life couple whom I sometimes think did that.....
