I suppose this point has been made before, but I'll say it again.

They are FOURTEEN YEARS OLD.

I think it's just too early to make bets on whether Hermione will end up
with Harry or Ron.  I could find either pairing believable; as things stand
now, I might give a mild edge toward Ron.

But I think back to the way I was when I was 14.  I didn't fall in love the
first time until I was 18, and I was a TOTALLY different person by then.
(And alas, it didn't work out anyway--he was in love with somebody else, but
that's another story).

Their characters are still forming.  Yes, Ron is jealous and sometimes so
clueless that he needs to be hit on the head with a big brick.  Still, he
might be very different by the time he's 18.  Ditto Harry--he doesn't seem
to be focused on guy/girl relationships yet.  He's awkward and tongue-tied
around girls.  He's too young--but at 18, it might be a very different
story.

And Hermione might be prickly and moody and impatient now, but at 18--who
knows?

IT'S TOO SOON TO TELL.  Speculation is fun, but at this point, that's all it
is--speculation.
