I find it highly unlikely that Voldemort/Tom Riddle would get
involved with a Muggle woman in the first place. He hated Muggles
when he was at Hogwarts and the first thing he did out of school was
to extinguish the Muggle side of the family tree.

In CoS Tom Riddle states that he began calling himself Voldemort and
gathering supporters while still at Hogwarts.

He might have a child he doesn't know about, but I don't believe it's
either James or Lily. JKR seems to set up James as the heir of Godric
Gryffindor, and Lily is muggle-born, which seems very important to
JKR. The acceptance of muggle-borns is a major theme of the books.
Besides, immortality is one of Voldemort's major goals and having
children is one of the ways to achieve it. I can't see him "spreading
his seed" carelessly.

I'm sure JKR is going somewhere with it, but so far I have no idea
where that could be.
