Thanks for the reply, Christina.  As to the above, I wasn't really 
thinking a muggle woman, but I guess it could be possible.  I suppose 
JKR could find ~some~ way to work that out.

True, but I was meaning when he underwent the changes that made him 
unrecognizable as TR.  I would have no idea if Vold would be capable 
of fathering children after all those changes.  Maybe.

Maybe instead of the "muggle-born" thing being a 'statement', it's 
just the set-up to some big twist.  As for Vold, I could see him 
wanting immortality through an offspring, but I can just as easily 
see him being self-centered and wanting to be the only powerful one, 
not wanting to share this even with his own son.

Same here.  Could be just a big coincidence--doubt it, or of course, 
the evil 'red herring'.
