I don't have the perception that Hermione "brags" about her smarts, in
class or out of class.  She's always all too happy to volunteer the
right answers, in class & out of class.  But, in my mind, that's not
quite the same thing as "bragging."  We know Snape thinks she's a
"show-off," but the other profs don't seem to share that view.

I'd be very interested in any specific examples of this behavior.  I'm
doing the Hermione character description later (and the Hermione
character FAQ now).  She's my 2nd favorite character and perhaps I'm
biased in her favor to some extent.  I do agree that she has her own
insecurities, but I don't have the impression that one of her faults is
being a braggart per se.
