Aggh -- sorry. *I* should have said chapter references. Sorry Simon.

I think Hermione is also Harry's best friend. I think Ron would say
that his best friends are Harry and Hermione. I think Hermione would
say her best friends are Harry and Ron. I don't see there being a
greater bond between Harry and Ron. There is certainly a *different*
bond because they're both male and they're still adolescent boys at this
point. But, the notion that Hermione is a lesser member of the Trio
somehow is just . . . wrong. BTW, I'm not directing that comment
specifically at Simon -- just making a point from some recent
discussions this week.

What I object to here is the idea that people think Hermione should be
Ron's consolation prize. Do her feelings count for nothing in the
equation? I'm not saying I'm absolutely right and that she *does* care
for Harry and not Ron. But, what if she does? I've seen several spins
on this same basic point that really left me feeling that people
believed that because Ron has "chosen" Hermione, they should be
together. End of story. No care whatever for what her feelings might
be.

Okay, made my point(s) for the day.

BTW, because I will be computer-less for the next 4 days, I'm changing
my settings to webview only to avoid a full to bursting inbox when I
return. I'll make a valiant effort to catch up again when I return. A
few more messages in my inbox & then I must get ready --

Penny
