This is your friendly neighborhood Borders employee speaking.
>1) Borders bookstores ( for those overseas, a major US chain)
>has a new 'gift certificate' card, $20 denomination, with the US GoF
>cover portion showing Harry's (and Cedric's) faces.
>
These have been around for almost a month. The gift cards are wonderfully
conveninient, much more so than a paper gift certificate. They're usable
at any Borders or at borders.com and retain the unused balance.
>2) Borders September flyer also says 'prepay for a Harry Potter 2001
>calendar and get a coupon for 15% off any other 2001 calendar' - not
>available online - also not repeated in the October flyer.
>
The HP calendars should be coming in, I'm told, sometimes in mid October.
I already have mine reserved. There are two, a wall calendar and a
day-to-day cube calendar. The deal is, reserve one now, and *when you pick
it up and pay for it* you'll receive a coupon for 10% off your next
purchase, whatever it is. I'm told that Borders will also be getting other
HP merchandise exclusive to us, like mugs and pennants and such.
>4) Finally, at least my bigger local Borders cafe's drink for October
>is a 'Pumpkin Smoothie' and the 'Valos coffee of the month' is
>'Pumpkin Spice', for those who thought the Pumpkin drink in the books
>was interesting.
>
Actually the Pumpkin Spice coffee (which is really good) was our coffee of
the month for September.
I might also note that the following books are coming out soon, like in the
next month or so:
"Writing: A Memoir" by Stephen King
"The Last Precinct" by Patricia Cornwell
"The Prodigal Summer" by Barbara Kingsolver
Lori, bookstore goddess

Lori "Too Much Ponch, Not Enough Jon" Summers
"I always say you can get further with a kind word and a
two-by-four than just a kind word." -Marcus
Last movie seen: "Satyricon"
Reigning car-CD: Austin Powers soundtrack
Current book: "Animal Dreams" by Barbara Kingsolver
