Lupin's age

Hi.
I was wondering if somebody could explain how Lupin is
the wrong age (from the old crowd e-mails, that's
stated in it.)
I'm new to this group so it's probably been explained,
but could somebody re-explain it for me?  It'd be much
appreciated.
