I think the moment that totally made me go "Wait whaaat?"  was in 
GoF35 'Veritaserum'  The whole part when (who i thought was) Moody 
told Harry it was him who put his name in the Goblet.  It was a total 
shock.  Although the 'Remus embracing Sirius' scene was a close 
second.  The fact that Scabbers wasn't a rat seemed a bit . . . drat 
i can't think of the word, not obvious but somethng along those 
lines, he just seemed a bit too intelligent throughout the book to be 
a rat.  I dunno!
