I think that the fact that Remus was missing a week out of every month 
of classes to go turn into a werewolf, yet still managed to graduate 
from Hogwarts suggests that he must have been quite bright.  Also, the 
amazing amount of class time he was missing could explain why he did 
not also end up with top grades.  It was impressive enough that he 
managed to keep up a
