Lily and the Marauders

How involves does everyone think Lily was with the 
marauders as it seems that she and James married almost straight out 
of school? Do you think she was as close to them as James was? Did 
she know about them being animagi, or Remus being a  werewolf? One of 
my theories is that Arabella Figg was her best friend. What does 
everyone else think?
