JKR also neglected to observe daylight hours at the beginning of HPSS.. Harry 
sets the alarm clock for 6 AM, hoping to catch the postman, and steps on Uncle 
Vernon in the dark.  (p. 39) But in England at 6 AM in late July, the sun has been 
up for hours.  

Likewise, on September 1, the sun is still setting rather late, and an 11 AM 
departure from King's Cross would put you in Scotland hours before dark fell; 
perhaps the Hogwarts Express is just slow.  Would I be TOO LOON-y if I posted 
a link to a site that will give you sunrise and sunset times for various cities 
in Britain, LOL?
