 The problem though is that Dumbledore knew that Lupin was a danger 
to other students. This is the whole point of the whomping willow and 
the shrieking shack. Now if he knew that Lupin's 3 best friends were 
somehow circumventing the precautions taken and having monthly 
adventures shouldn't he have tried to put a stop to it for their own 
safety?
