Waiting Longer for GoF

As I suffer the painful wait until we finally get OoP, I was
reflecting on the fact that JKR did the first four books much more
quickly than the 2-year period she is taking for OoP. I believe GoF
was done in about a year, and JKR was under terrible time pressure.
The opinion around here seems to be that the rush resulted in errors
(wand order) and more than a few plot holes.

Like everyone else, I'm willing to wait for OoP if the wait ensures
that OoP will be outstanding. But then I started wondering whether
the reduction in errors and problems in a book is necessarily worth
the delay.

Put differently (and this is the question), if you knew that JKR
wanted to take an extra year to do GoF and that by doing so she would
correct every plot hole problem or error in GoF, would you have been
willing to wait? Or do you think the book was plenty good enough as
it is, and waiting the extra year to tidy things up wouldn't be worth
it?

I think that GoF was plenty good enough despite the awkward moments
and errors, so I wouldn't have been happy to wait another year
(although I am quite willing to be persuaded to the contrary).
Although analyzing problems in GoF is fun, the book reads pretty well
unless you really go over it with a fine tooth comb, and maybe that's
all we should ask. But what do the rest of you think?

Cindy (who has a gut feeling that OoP will be delayed until Christmas
2002, and the CoS movie will be released in June 2003)
