Actually, Lupin did know about the cloak.... the whole reason he had
the map out was because he suspected that Harry, Ron, and Hermione
were going to sneak out to visit Hagrid before Buckbeak's execution.
He knew they were wearing the invisibility cloak but he could still
see them on the map.
I have one thing to say in defense of Lupin --(I guess I must admit
he was very dumb but I can't help liking him anyway.) Why didn't
Harry or Hermione think to grab the cloak before they went through
the tree after Ron? If they had, at least it would've stopped Snape
from sneaking in on them and perhaps given them a chance to transform
the rat into Peter in front of him.
Poor Remus. Cute, but dumb.
