Can't we all just get along?

As an anti-shipper, I have to say that I disagree with splitting off
shipping to a separate list. I use webview, and I skip shipping.
Period. I don't enjoy it, I don't read it, but I feel no need to
complain about it. The shippers are very good about putting shipping
in their titles, and their cooperation makes this system work for
me. Any difficulty with using webview because of Yahoo ads or other
technical issues is not the fault of the shipper. All of the
delivery options have disadvantages; as mature adults, we should be
able to live with these limitations without coming unhinged.

The standard for a post to be on this list (as I understand it) is
quite a bright line: does it concern canon? We should apply that
standard to shipping discussion, sex discussion, religion discussion
and everything else (except the few banned topics). Shipping is a
form of analyzing HP characterization -- IMHO just as valid as
arguing about whether Neville will become the DADA teacher.
Therefore, the current system makes perfect sense: OT, Movie, and
Fanfic do not concern canon and go elsewhere. Everything else canon-
related can go here.

Frankly, I just don't think it is very nice to pronounce someone
else's interest as "boring." House ghosts bore me; should they be
relegated to another list? If 3000 people are going to discuss HP
canon, then we all must be much more respectful of the wishes of
others to enjoy HP in the way that works for them.

I apologize if this seems harsh, but I think this list works great
when we can all discuss whatever interests us about canon, and I
don't think we need to have a brawl just because some people resent
skipping clearly labeled shipping posts.
